Art Gallery Exhibition:
May 10-June 28/2015 Mc Mullen Gallery

I have been working with the circle as a symbol over the past three years.

The idea began during an amazing expedition to Greenland and the Canadian Arctic in 2011, and has been an ongoing process of discovery, research and travel since, including three series of artworks, a cultural experience in the Sacred Valley of the Incas in Peru in 2012, and two art exhibitions.

I use the circle as a shape to explore and to celebrate, as it is so simple and yet so profound, embedded in cultures internationally. My circle paintings juxtapose random and geometric patterns, observing the co-existence of predictable and unpredictable relationships. They also observe the interconnected relationship between the individual and the whole.

I invite you to view and experience the paintings at a close distance in order to further explore some of these detailed relationships.
I find the circle imagery positive and uplifting, as we can all find a way of relating to this universal shape and symbol. I have enjoyed the meditative practice of making the paintings, focusing on color, shape and pattern and allowing the creative process to guide me.

I hope you enjoy viewing them.
